Waste Not…What You Can Do to Help Save Our Earth: A Virtual Conversation

February 26, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Free

What is garbage? It can be spoiled food, used paper coffee cups, plastic bags or cigarette butts. It can be a sofa that no longer matches the décor of the home or clothes that are too small, or no longer in fashion.

We discard these things far too easily, by throwing them in garbage cans. We dump them in abandoned lots and our parks. We thoughtlessly throw them on sidewalks. But they don’t magically disappear from the earth. They end up in landfills and in our oceans. It is making a mess of our neighborhoods and it is killing our planet.

Learn how the garbage we produce, our solid waste, contributes to global warming. And learn how each of us can help to slow down the impacts of climate change by simply managing it differently. We each have a role to play when it comes to making our planet a healthier and safer place to live.

Join the Eastern Queens Alliance, along with our Co-Sponsor, the Queens Solid Waste Advisory Board, Office of the Queens Borough President, as we roll out our Waste Not campaign, a series of forums and activities that will help each of us to think about and manage our solid wastes differently — not as garbage, but rather as an act of defiance against global warming and climate change.
