Slated for Destruction: Learn how a Piano works by Destroying One

In this workshop, attendees will get to learn how an old, unsalvageable piano works by destroying it — and taking a look inside the instrument!

Each attendee will have the opportunity to see, feel, and experience all the internal mechanisms that make a piano work and to learn how acoustical sound is created. Students will work one-on-one with the teaching artist to deconstruct the piano. The remains will create a multidisciplinary exhibition in the Community Gallery of the Jamaica Center of Arts and Learning until January 2022. Free and open to all.
