Jazz Vespers w/ The Richard Braithwaite Quintet

Richard Braithwaite is a Queens native and a product of the New York City public school system. He learned to play saxophone from a neighbor across from Baisley Park, Barbara Hunter, in the mid 1970’s. He earned a B.S. Degree in Music Performance in 1992 from Lehman College as part of the Local 802/CUNY program.

Richard served for 11 years as a general music and band teacher at two area high schools: August Martin and Springfield Gardens High Schools. Richard is currently the Coordinator of Jazz Vespers Communion Services at The Presbyterian Church of St. Albans. His first commercial release entitled, “Monk & Other Music” on JJQ Records came out in May 2022.
