JCAL’s Golden Anniversary Gala

Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning (JCAL) is about to celebrate 50 years of service to Southeast Queens in 2022—and we hope to celebrate with you!
Founded in 1972, JCAL has spent five decades providing opportunities for artists and arts-lovers to share in the joy of creativity. And on Friday, June 17, 2022, JCAL will host a Gala to mark our Golden Anniversary. Look for more information on honorees and special guest performers next month.
Tickets to the JCAL Golden Anniversary Gala includes a buffet style dinner and live music, an auction of original art, a raffle, and special awards to our three honorees: Adrienne Adams, Speaker of the New York City Council; Danny Simmons, acclaimed artist, poet and co-producer of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam; and Michelle Stoddart, Vice President, Community Development, Resorts World New York City.
Three types of tickets may be purchased for this once-in-a-lifetime event:
VIP Ticket ($300) – With a VIP ticket, you get premium access to the Thursday, June 16th Def Poetry Jam concert at JPAC, featuring members of the original cast of the beloved HBO show. On Friday, June 17th, your VIP ticket also grants you access to an exclusive reception with Danny Simmons on the 3rd floor of JPAC, at 7pm, with champagne, live music and a complimentary exhibition catalogue signed by Simmons. And of course your VIP ticket grants you a seat at the Golden Anniversary Gala, beginning at 8pm. Tickets are limited.
General Admission ($200) – With a General Admission ticket, your seat at the Golden Anniversary Gala is assured. Festivities begin with a reception in the lobby of JPAC at 7pm, and then the main event itself, starting at 8pm.
VIP Table ($2400) – With a VIP table, everyone at the table gets premium access to the Thursday, June 16th Def Poetry Jam concert at JPAC, access to the exclusive reception with Danny Simmons and a seat at the Golden Anniversary Gala. VIP Tables are limited.
Your Hosts – JCAL’s Golden Anniversary Gala will be hosted by acclaimed entertainer Michael Manswell and actor/comedian Mugga.
The Music – The Bartlett Contemporaries is a dynamic R&B dance band providing excellence in all genres of music. The group was first established in 1964. Throughout the years, they’ve performed for Oprah Winfrey, Miles Davis and more.
