Queens Borough President Office’s Youth & Young Adult Council (Apply by February 23rd)

The Queens Borough President’s Office (QBPO) is looking for a diverse council composed of fierce advocates who are committed to making Queens a more youth inclusive borough. The QBPO’s Youth & Young Adult Council serves as the youth advisory body to the Borough President. Youth participating in this program will advocate concerns through means of community engagement, advocacy, and more! The council strives to be representative of the overall mission of the Queens Borough President’s Office.

The QBPO’s Youth & Young Adult Council, will include two cohorts of twelve active members and three Advisors. Cohort 1 will include High School representatives ages 14-17 years old. Cohort 2 Young Adult Professionals will be comprised of young adults ages 18-25 years old. Advisors are expected to have 5 years of experience working with youth populations, preferably in Queens, and must be dedicated to the uplifting and empowerment of our youth.

The QBPO’s Youth & Young Adult Council is tasked with empowering participants to make independent decisions and will use their network to introduce and connect with the Council with the proper people and organizations which will further expand their vision and borough-wide initiatives. Advisors are expected to have 5 years of experience working with youth populations, preferably in Queens, and must be dedicated to the uplifting and empowerment of our youth.

To be eligible youth participants must:

1.  Be a resident of Queens
2.  Be committed to youth related initiatives;
3. Show a willingness and a commitment to the empowerment of Queens Youth
4.  Be able to commit 4 hours to Council a month
5.  Complete an application on Google Form
6. If in High school, submit parent consent form, as well as unofficial high school transcript
7. If in College, submit unofficial high school transcript

* Submit a cover letter/ Video Submission Responses and resume (optional, but strongly recommended)To be eligible Advisor:
1. Be a resident of Queens

2. Advisors must be 35+ years old

3. 5+ years of experiences working with youth population,
4. Demonstrate a passion for working with either High School Students or College Students
5. Must Commit to being a mentor for 1 years with 4-6 hours a month
