Piano: Beginner to Intermediate

An intensive for beginning to intermediate piano students. Each student will practice rhythmic fluency, note reading as well as piano technique while preparing an individual piano piece to practice and perform at the end of the semester.
A small-group class by design, each student will receive individualized guidance and instruction regardless of proficiency level. By the end of this class, each student will be able to read notes and rhythms in the treble and bass clef, and will perform a piece that observes proper dynamics, articulation and tempo.

Classes will take place at Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning at the following dates and times:
Classes for Ages 7-11 will take place on the below dates at 12pm – 1pm
Classes for 12 and up will take place on the below dates from 1:30pm to 3pm
October – 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
November – 6th, 13th, 20th
December – 4th, 11th, 18th
January – 8th, 15th
Meet the instructor – Karina Parker is a Brooklyn-based musician, multidisciplinary performing artist, director and educator. She is co-founder and co-director of the grassroots company Killer Queen Opera, and a founding member of the NY-based vocal ensemble Musica Vera. Parker received her BFA and Music Education Certification for instrumental and vocal instruction from Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. She performs, directs and teaches throughout NYC’s five boroughs, including at the Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning. When not teaching or performing, Parker likes to paint, read, and travel.
