Black Homeownership: The Pride Of St. Albans

Queens native and photographer Elias Williams celebrates the history and everyday people of his hometown, St. Albans, Queens. This historically rich and underrepresented community continues to exemplify the best of middle-class life in America and has the distinction of housing legendary Black musicians and athletes. Its culture has survived racist housing policies enacted to keep African Americans out as well as the 2008 housing crisis.
