E.M.B.O.D.I (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence)

The Queens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is the sponsor of E.M.B.O.D.I. The E.M.B.O.D.I. program is designed to refocus the efforts of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., with the support and action of other major organizations, on the plight of Africa-American males.

New York City Parks Green Teens

Are you 13 to 17 years old? Are you interested in earning school community service credit with New York City Parks by keeping parklands green and clean? Then you should join New York City Parks Green Teens. As a Green Teen, you’ll remove litter from parklands, collect recyclables, take care of trees, creatively encourage the public to keep their parklands green and clean, and earn rewards for your efforts. Y Roads Center Jamaica

Y Roads is a partnership between the Greater YMCA of New York and Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow that is designed to support young people who are neither employed nor in school get themselves on a path to success.

The Young Adult Internship Program or YAIP provides 17-24 year-old young adults who are not working and not in school, placement into short-term internships. The program offers five weeks of business skills training followed by an 11-week paid internship. Participants also receive professional development opportunities, speed networking experience, and job placement assistance.

The Youth Job Training and Development Program helps young adults ages 17-21 upgrade their job skills and find permanent work. The program offers class instruction in Business English, Business Math, Keyboarding, Office Procedures, Computer Training, Public Speaking and Communication, and World of Work. The program also provides High School Equivalency classes, college access assistance, work readiness and job placement assistance. Participants also have the opportunity to earn two nationally recognized credentials – the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification and the National Retail Federation Customer Service Certification.

All participants receive follow-up services for 12 months after completing the program.
