Eastern Queens Alliance Spring Break Camps

Don’t celebrate Earth-Day, celebrate Earth-Week with the Eastern Queens Alliance at one of their Summer break camps.

Tuesday, April 23rd — Gardening

Ages 9-13 — 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Ages 6-8 — 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Students will learn the basics of gardening and composting and come to understand the relationship between them. They will also have the opportunity to make compost and create their own miniature garden.

Wednesday, April 24th — Bird Migration

Ages 9-13 — 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Ages 6-8 — 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Students will learn how to identify local birds based on color, adaption, behavior, habitat and bird songs. They will then examine why birds migrate and play a migration game that exemplifies some of the struggles that they face along the way.

Thursday, April 25th — Endangered Species

Ages 9-13 — 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Ages 6-8 — 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Students will learn about the negative effects that chemicals and solid wastes have on the ecosystem and how they contribute to endangering the lives of various species. They will partake in hands on activities and participate in a Recyclable Art contest.
